The Potentials of AI in Creating Awareness in Health Related Crises in Bauchi Metropolis: Focus on Lassa Fever
Abstract
This paper explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing health-related crises,
with a specific focus on creating awareness and preventing Lassa fever in Bauchi Metropolis, Nigeria.
Lassa fever, a life-threatening viral disease, continues to pose significant public health challenges due
to inadequate awareness, late diagnosis, and poor preventive measures. The study provides a
theoretical overview of the disease, examining its causes, modes of transmission, and the socio
economic challenges associated with its control. It delves into the transformative role of AI in health
crises, highlighting its capabilities in early detection, predictive analytics, health education, and real
t
ime monitoring. Furthermore, the paper discusses how AI tools such as chatbots, mobile
applications, and machine learning models can enhance public awareness and preventive strategies
against Lassa fever. By addressing technological, infrastructural, and ethical challenges, this study
proposes actionable recommendations for integrating AI into health campaigns in Bauchi
Metropolis. The findings underscore the immense potential of AI in revolutionizing health crisis
management, emphasizing its application in creating sustainable solutions for Lassa fever prevention
and control.
