THE POTENTIALS OF AI IN CREATING AWARENESS IN HEALTH RELATED CRISES IN BAUCHI METROPOLIS: FOCUS ON LASSA FEVER

Abstract

This paper explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing health-related crises, with a specific focus on creating awareness and preventing Lassa fever in Bauchi Metropolis, Nigeria. Lassa fever, a life-threatening viral disease, continues to pose significant public health challenges due to inadequate awareness, late diagnosis, and poor preventive measures. The study provides a theoretical overview of the disease, examining its causes, modes of transmission, and the socio economic challenges associated with its control. It delves into the transformative role of AI in health crises, highlighting its capabilities in early detection, predictive analytics, health education, and real t ime monitoring. Furthermore, the paper discusses how AI tools such as chatbots, mobile applications, and machine learning models can enhance public awareness and preventive strategies against Lassa fever. By addressing technological, infrastructural, and ethical challenges, this study proposes actionable recommendations for integrating AI into health campaigns in Bauchi Metropolis. The findings underscore the immense potential of AI in revolutionizing health crisis management, emphasizing its application in creating sustainable solutions for Lassa fever prevention and control.
